Gallery / Shocked Gobble
Across the vivid blue surface, a web of pale and golden matrix converges at the center, forming the unmistakable impression of a turkey frozen in a moment of shock—its form radiating outward like branches of lightning, as if struck in a sudden, electrifying instant.
In this imagined scene, the sky is calm for only a heartbeat before a bolt of energy crashes down, illuminating the landscape in a blinding flash. At the very center, the turkey appears mid-cry—wings flared, body rigid, caught in a dramatic moment of surprise and intensity. The energy pulses outward in jagged veins, echoing the force of the strike, until silence returns, leaving behind a single, unforgettable moment—forever captured within the stone.
Conceived as “The Electrified Turkey,” this piece was cut just ahead of Canadian Thanksgiving in 2017, blending technical mastery with playful artistic intent. This striking cabochon from the historic Crescent Peak mine in Nevada captures attention with its vivid, high-grade turquoise, the rough having been acquired from Robert M. Stapp, adding a notable provenance to its already compelling visual narrative.
